It looks like even Jasmine Curtis-Smith has to endure the perpetual question asked to younger-siblings-that-look-older-than-their-older-siblings: “Are you sure you aren’t the panganay?” Except in her case, it’s a li’l worse.
A stray fan commented this question to Curtis-Smith on one of her TikToks: “Diba po anak mo po si Ms Anne Curtis?” She responded with another video, with her looking visibly confused and stressed out while crying, “Ten years akong mas bata sa kanya.”
The caption read: “KELAN PO BAKIT PO AKO PA UNG NANAY (sic)”

One of her fans jokingly comforted Curtis-Smith in the comments, telling her that she does look older than her sister and that “ganyan talaga pag bunso napagkakamalang panganay.”
“Sana naging ate ako hindi nanay sa pag-iisip nya,” she replied.
The comments we get from random strangers on the Internet can be weird, from funny misassumptions like this to unfortunately darker accusations. (Can I get an amen from all the queer folk labelled as Satanists from Christians, or all the socially-aware people branded as communist rebels? I’ve had both.) It’s hard not to laugh at these replies—they just don’t make sense! Like in Curtis-Smith’s case, didn’t she make her big debut in the entertainment scene whole years after her sister did? Why would she be the mom?
It’s a mystery how one can be confused, especially after Curtis-Smith honored both her mom and older sister for Mother’s Day on Instagram. Yes, Anne Curtis is a mom, but Jasmine Curtis-Smith is not. Case closed.
