Get in, Swifties. Taylor Swift has just been cast in director David O. Russell’s upcoming, untitled, very star-studded, super top-secret film.
How star-studded, you ask? The ensemble reportedly also includes Zoe Saldana, Robert De Niro, Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy, Margot Robbie, Rami Malek, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon, and Timothy Olyphant, among others.
In case you didn’t know who he was, Russell directed “Silver Linings Playbook” and “I Heart Huckabees.” The new movie will be his first one since 2015’s “Joy.” While everything about this film is being kept under lock and key, its title is rumored to be “Canterbury Glass” and will be a Depression-era period piece. Again, all rumors at this stage, but Russell has done a period piece before (“American Hustle”) so it’s not too far out of left field.
Back to T. Swift. Like with the rest of the film, not much is known about Swift’s part. This will be her first role since 2014’s “The Giver.” (“Cats”? What’s that?) Kidding aside, hopefully she’ll have more screen time in the upcoming film. (Aside from her big number, she only has, like, one line as Bombalurina! Criminal, absolutely criminal, that James Corden has more screen time as her. Okay, I’m done ranting about “Cats.”)
Seeing Swift in her next role could come sooner rather than later: production for the film has been completed, Deadline reports, and 20th Century Studios is set to release it with the date TBA.
