Meet the student who’s been dubbed as Marian Rivera’s younger look-alike

Filipinos love discovering look-alikes and we also love hyping so-called celebrity doppelgangers into internet micro-celebrity prominence. Remember the rise in popularity of the Filipino lookalikes of BTS’ Jimin and Chloë Moretz? So it comes as no surprise when eagle-eyed netizens found another uncanny celebrity resemblance to fixate on. Meet Léa Dumortier, Marian Rivera’s French-Taiwanese look-alike from California.

The comments section of Léa Dumortier’s Instagram posts and TikToks have been flooded with comments from fans of Marian Rivera who have noted the likeness to the actress. Many have even tagged Rivera herself. In response, Dumortier has posted a number of TikToks to address it. On Dec. 11, she posted a video of her in a blue tank top similar to what Rivera wore in a photo Dumortier green screened behind her. Her caption was a quip about the number of comments she has received on it.

Back in January, Dumortier also posted a TikTok of her morphing into Rivera. “Maybe I’m secretly her daughter,” she wrote in the video. According to PEP, she was first discovered by a fan in 2019 and more comments started rolling in around January 2020. She has even been said to resemble actresses Carla Abellana and Antoinette Taus.

So how does Dumortier feel about the comparison? The 19-year-old University of California, Berkeley student told Preen, “When I first found out that I resembled Marian Rivera through my comment section on TikTok, I was definitely surprised to see how many people agreed. Netizens have been pretty kind to me so far and it doesn’t bother me too much that my comment sections are filled with Marian Rivera comments!” We’re glad to know that she’s flattered to be dubbed as a possible twin to the multihyphenate star and recent Miss Universe judge. We would be too.

We’re still waiting to hear whether Rivera sees the resemblance herself. Who knows? Maybe she’ll even say that Dumortier is a glimpse into what her daughter Zia Dantes might look like as a teen.
