Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly celebrated their engagement by drinking each other’s blood

The generation’s chaotic goth It Couple just got engaged.

The ’90s had Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton, an infamous short-lived union which had the two getting hot and heavy in public, having car sex right before appearing on the red carpet, and wearing vials of each other’s blood as a necklace. And now we have Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, a seemingly unlikely and bizarre union that’s somehow also simultaneously perfect and a match made in (Tim Burton) heaven. Listen, I love them, but them getting together was not on my 2020 bingo. Then again, neither was COVID, so what do I know.

The couple has given us so many iconic moments—their red carpet debut, their British GQ cover where Megan Fox admitted that MGK’s first words to her were “I am weed,” the double date with Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker. As a Megan Fox stan, I can’t help but be fond of this coupling because it’s given us a once-rare look into Fox’s goofy side.

Today, the two announced their engagement after a year and a half of dating. Fox posted a video of the proposal, along with a sweet—and saucy—caption. “In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree. We asked for magic,” she wrote. “Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.”

“And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes…and then we drank each other’s blood,” she concluded the caption, which??? Ma’am, will you please elaborate on that? As someone who’s replayed a million times that one scene from “Interview with the Vampire” where Lestat and Louis feast on one girl at the same time and imagined I was her, I’m not coming from a place of judgment. But I would still like to know more information. Was that part of the proposal? Was it something they were going to do anyway? When did they decide to do the blood drinking?

Meanwhile, MGK posted a photo of the ring which he designed himself. “I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”

I just love that these two weirdos found each other. Fox has been through the ringer, and I’m glad that after her divorce from Brian Austin Green, she’s with someone romantic who’d even propose under a tree where they first fell in love.
