Charli XCX is collaborating with known Angel, Seventeen’s Vernon

It’s a good day to be a hyperpop fan: We are now one step closer to getting a collab between Charli XCX and Seventeen’s Vernon. The British singer posted a series of tweets asking how she could link up with Vernon today, Feb. 8. And he didn’t take too long to reply this time.

“how do i get in touch with Vernon??” Charli tweeted. After a ton of helpful suggestions from fans, she wrote in a follow-up tweet, “hi @pledis_17 wanna collab?” The Seventeen rapper isn’t that active on Twitter but someone might have tipped him off. He wrote in a reply, “YES 🤯🤯 still can’t believe this is real wow”

How are Carats taking the news? Before Vernon logged back in, one local Carat named Gail took it upon themself to intervene. In a funny tweet, they accepted Charli’s collab request for Vernon while copying his typing style.

“Vernon is known for replying pretty late to things. Last time he got noticed by Charli, it took him weeks to respond so I took matters into my own hands. I think a collaboration with the two of them would be so fun so I’m hoping for the best between them,” Gail told Preen. The devil works hard but Carats and Angels work harder. And it looks like our wish came true.

A day before the tweets, Charli asked her fans for suggestions on artists who would be great for a “Beg for You” remix. Vernon’s name came up and for good reason—he has taken part in writing and producing hyperpop tracks like Seventeen’s “GAM3 BO1” and solo single “Bands Boy.”

It helps that Vernon is also a big Charli XCX fan. On numerous occasions, the certified Angel has recommended her songs to fans in interviews and on his Instagram Stories. In fact, they’ve interacted on Twitter before. After Vernon told W Magazine that he’s been singing her songs in the shower, Charli tweeted, “omg hi love u and ur exceptional taste,” His cute reply? “wow just saw this. thank u”

This won’t be Charli’s first project with a K-pop idol: She previously collaborated with Seventeen’s Hybe labelmate BTS for the track “Dream Glow.” With the collaboration pushing through, we definitely have high hopes. Carats and Angels, we ride at dawn.
