The best thing about the Grammys was seeing BTS have fun

The Grammys came and went, and while some wins were very much appreciated, others were a huge miss.

Doja Cat and Sza won their first ever Grammys for “Kiss Me More,” and gave us the most chaotic Grammy clip ever, with Doja Cat running from the bathroom and Sza walking to the stage in crutches with Lady Gaga fixing her train. Jazz and neo soul artist Jon Batiste won album of the year for “We Are,” becoming the first Black artist to win the category in 14 years. But how is BTS losing again the same year Louis CK wins a Grammy for Best Comedy Album? Hello?

While we’re on the subject, it’s a little disappointing that some fans are trying to tear down Batiste for winning over their faves instead of focusing their energy on, say, a sexual assaulter getting awards still. Aside from the fact that “We Are” is a great album and he’s used his music to support the Black Lives Matter movement, Batiste’s wife Suleika Jaouad’s leukemia came back last November. It’s more than a little uncomfortable seeing stans try to bring him down in favor of their white faves—who in all likelihood don’t have any problem with him.

But on to more lighter topics: BTS continues to be our fave part of the Grammys. They performed “Butter” as suave international art thieves, with V flirting with Olivia Rodrigo, Jin as a master hacker, and the boys skillfully dodging security lasers. It’s giving classic jewel heist movie, and it’s genuinely fun to watch. It isn’t just their performance that gave us life this year, though. The boys had a lot of fun celebrity moments that we loved seeing.

V and Olivia Rodrigo

V and Olivia are the love team we weren’t expecting. Kidding aside, V flirted with Rodrigo at the start of the “Butter” performance to sell the whole suave charismatic thief persona. Heart eyes. In their live after the Grammys, he complimented her acting skills, saying that she played along really well. Now give us a collab, you two! Valready said he’d want to do it, so we’re waiting on you, Liv!

Japanese Breakfast

BTS (minus Suga) were snapped with singer Michelle Zauner, also known as Japanese Breakfast. Where was Suga? Probably the bathroom, many netizens joked. RM is a big bookworm with an eclectic taste in books, so I hope he and Zauner got to talk about her memoir “Crying in H Mart.” At the very least, it’s up his alley and I’m dying to know what he thinks of it.

V and Lady Gaga

BTS (specifically Suga) mentioned wanting to collab with Lady Gaga, E! News reported earlier today. Lo and behold, we got this interaction between her and V. We wish we could hear what they were saying, but it must’ve been sweet, as it ended with Lady Gaga giving V a peck on the cheek. Again, where was Suga when this was happening?

V and Jon Batiste

This year’s Grammy has been V’s moment, hasn’t it?

V and Batiste were pictured hugging at the show, and they have actually been in talks with each other, as Batiste revealed in a Twitter Space last March 17. So the hug warmed many fans’ hearts as it meant that the two finally got to meet in person.

V is a huge jazzhead, and he’s shown fans clips of him playing the trumpet, so we know that a jazz artist admiring his music is a big moment for him.

BTS and Megan thee Stallion

BTS and Megan had a “Butter” reunion earlier. Megan posted a photo of their group selfie, captioning it, “Me and the boys.” It’s a shame she wasn’t in the “Butter” performance: she’d fit right in with her all-black getup.
