Six years after her solo debut, Blackpink member and “The Idol” star Jennie has released a new special single. Blackpink dropped a title poster for the song called “You & Me” on Oct. 4 on the group’s social media pages.
Prior to the official announcement, Jennie already sang “You & Me” at this year’s Coachella in California and Blackpink’s recently concluded “Born Pink” World Tour, which started in 2022. Thanks to the song’s inclusion on their set list, fans can already recognize the title as the sultry, heavy-hitting track Jennie performed with a dance partner.
Compared to her 2018 hit and self-love anthem “Solo,” “You & Me” hinges on devotion and romance over an upbeat bassline. The song’s teaser is visually dreamy and effortless, embodying Jennie’s “You & Me” performances to a tee. The dance performance video is equally stunning with backdrops of stardust and silhouettes of Jennie dancing in front of a ruby moon.
Besides Jennie’s discography with Blackpink, the hype for “You & Me” also stems from her daring projects outside her group activities. One of which is her role as head-turner Dyanne in HBO’s drama series “The Idol,” where she made headlines with her rendition of “World Class Sinner / I’m A Freak” by Lily Rose-Depp’s character Jocelyn.
Another breakthrough moment for Jennie was her live remix of “Solo” in Blackpink’s 2021 concert “The Show,” which included a never-before-seen rap verse and dance break.
BLINKs can now listen to “You & Me,” as well as its Coachella version, on all streaming platforms.
