Indie Band Frontwoman Gives the Middle Finger to a Fan

Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry gave a fan a proper talk down when he shouted “Marry me!” between songs at their concert in Central Park, New York.

“Does that work?” Lauren asks, calling the fan out afterward for the harassing nature of his indecent proposal.  “I don’t want any of that shit,” she continues. What others often take as admiration, Lauren calls out for its misogynistic undertone. I mean, how many times have you accepted a proposal shouted out at random by someone half-hidden in shadow?

After Lauren’s whole talk, someone still found the gall to ask, “Why so grumpy, Lauren?” The singer responded by raising her middle finger, which was greeted with cheers.

You can watch the full exchange here:

Lauren, along with her band members Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, have faced the issue of misogyny and slut-shaming head-on throughout their career by calling out the slut-shamers and misogynists who send them messages. Lauren has even written fearlessly about misogyny and established the blog, Tuck Your Cunt In, to further her cause.
