Take a Look at the Instagram Post That Cost Vanessa Hudgens $1,000

A word of caution: Do not vandalize historic, national treasures. (Duh!) But if you have, don’t post it on Instagram.

Let Vanessa Hudgens be a lesson to you. When she and her beau Austin Butler visited the protected rock formations of Sedona, Arizona for Valentine’s Day, they dedcided to commemorate their love and the trip by engraving their names on a rock. (Really, Vanessa, aren’t we all a little old for that? It’s 2016, for rock’s sake.)

The US Forest Service used the post to pursue misdemeanor charges that if and when found guilty of, are punishable by up to six months in jail and up to a $5,000 fine. Vanessa got away with just paying a $1,000 fine and has served a lesson to those who want to do the same thing.

So, listen up everyone: If you’re going to be cheesy about your love, don’t take it out on protected rock formations. No one appreciates it.
