Jaclyn Jose Brought Home the Palm d’Or from Cannes

The past few days has been one of the most exciting and exhilarating not just for Jaclyn Jose, but for all of us in the Philippines. She just arrived yesterday afternoon with her Palm d’Or (gold leaf) award in tow, we would be just as proud if we bag such an incredible recognition.

But what we love is how she openly shares this win to everyone—her colleagues in the film industry and of course, the Filipino people. “It always feels good to represent the Philippines. Thank you very much, this is truly a great honor for me and I am sharing this with all of you,” she says as she arrives in NAIA yesterday afternoon.

Brillante Mendoza’s film Ma’Rosa was recognized all over the world when our very own Jaclyn Jose bagged the best actress award—a first for any actress from Southeast Asia—beating Kirsten Stewart, Marion Cotilliard, and Charlize Theron for portraying a poverty-stricken mother who deals drugs to make ends meet.

Now that everyone is celebrating her win, Jaclyn is hopeful as people will now watch Ma’Rosa which will help bring awareness to the current situation of drug dealing and corruption present in our country.
