In case you were wondering why Taylor Swift wasn’t at the VMAs this year, it’s because she was on jury duty in Nashville. However, it was short-lived.
Taylor was named a potential juror in an aggravated rape and kidnapping case in Tennessee. But she later asked to be excused from the duties because she felt that she would be biased since she has a pending sexual assault case against a radio DJ.
Of course, some jurors also took the opportunity to take selfies with her while she was in town.
So no, Taylor didn’t skip the VMAs to avoid drama with Kim and Kanye. But the call for jury duty was a convenient excuse, don’t you think? And it did help her avoid listening to Kanye bringing up the “Famous” drama in his VMAs speech. Crisis averted.
