Angelina Jolie Files for Divorce Due to Brad Pitt’s Substance Abuse and Anger Issues

Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are getting divorced. News broke in the middle of the night when TMZ first reported about the filing of papers that claimed “Irreconcilable Differences.” The couple have been together since 2004 and was married in their home in France in 2014—that’s 12 years of being together and our hearts are breaking.

Angelina reportedly filed last Monday, Sept. 19 because she was fed up with Brad Pitt’s parenting style and to add to that, he also has anger issues that are said to be fueled by weed and alcohol. The actress asked for sole physical custody of their six children—Maddox Chivan, Max Thien, Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel, Knox Leon, and Vivienne Marcheline—without spousal support, and she requested for Brad to be granted visitation rights.

Her lawyer released a statement to People saying, “Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”

Brad also spoke up about the divorce and also shared a statement with People, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

Page Six reported that one of the reasons behind the break-up was because Brad Pitt was “cozying up” with Marion Cotillard on the set of Allied. But sources say to People that this has nothing to do with the divorce and it was solely about what’s best for their children.

We will be updating you as the story develops.
