The president’s crackdown on drugs seems to be getting harsher as the days go by, sparing no one from commoners to celebrities, albeit with questionable reasons. Given this, Solenn Heussaff’s decision to take a drug test and be public about it is a prudent move.
The actress-singer tells Inquirer.net, “There are lots of things happening now, and you’ll never know what’s going to come out in the articles. So I thought, I would just do it, so that people would know the truth.”
Right after her wedding, Solenn is back in swing with projects including the release of her new album and taping dates for her show It Girls. Despite her visibility in the limelight, she’s still being shadowed by rumors of using illegall drugs. To this, she fearlessly answers: “When you’re wrongly accused of anything that you don’t do… it’s not a nice feeling. But I have nothing to be afraid of…I know myself.”
Good for you, Solenn. This stand is perhaps better at putting the drug war on a different, more reasonable path. Something like Robin Padilla’s plea to spare celebrities of being revealed for being drug users, for example, just heightens the social and class struggles this war gets its fuel from.
