Why the ‘It Girls’ Can’t Live Together Under One Roof

We’re not going to lie, we already have our calendars marked for the It Girls premiere next Monday, Oct. 24. But while we wait, we got to chat with Solenn Heussaff, Isabelle Daza, Liz Uy, and the show’s director Raymond Gutierrez (Georgina Wilson was still in LA, sadly) about what we’ll see.

“[We decided to do this show because] we wanted something to look back on as friends,” Liz says during the first episode’s launch at House Manila. Raymond adds to this, saying that they wanted to show another side of them outside of their like-worthy social media posts.

In the 15 minutes we had with them, we found out what kind of friendship these girls have and how shooting a reality show affected their relationships somehow.

What’s your favorite part about shooting a reality show?
Solenn: We all get another excuse to hang out. We have more time.
Liz: Yeah, because sometimes it’s so hard when they shoot us separately. But at the same time, we also have to be together, you know? Because it’s our show.
Raymond: More excuses for us to be together because all of us have our individual projects going on. So this show made us closer as a group of friends. I think, as a unit, it kind of solidified our friendship a little bit more just because for a while, we were all doing our own things and we have to schedule dinners and stuff like that. But this time, it’s like a forced hangout and we appreciate that.

Did you learn anything new about each other while shooting?
Raymond: I think we got closer.
Solenn: I mean, we knew a lot about each other already.
Liz: Ako naman, what I learned from them is their relationships with their partners. So it’s really nice to get to know Nico, Arthur, and Adrien more.
Solenn: You’ll actually get to see a lot of them here because when we’re interviewed in other shows and they ask us about our plus-ones, we always say “Hmm, no comment.” And here, you actually get to see them and how weird we are at home.
Raymond: The husbands and the partners are involved 100 percent. It’s nice also that they gave their support and allowed us to film them in their living spaces. We get to see Solenn in the bedroom, Adrien and Belle in their living room. The fact that they allowed us that access for people to get to see and know them, I think it’s a big deal and this is the first time we’ll get to see something like this from the girls who have always been so private about their personal lives.
Liz: They don’t really have a choice. (Laughs)
Solenn: Also, since this is just not coming out in the Philippines but also in other countries across Asia, so it’s really introducing the people from scratch—from the ground to where we are now. So they’ll understand where we’re coming from.

Do you think the dynamic of the show will change if all of you were living under one roof?
Solenn: For a long time?
Isabelle: I think I’d bitch about that. (Laughs)
Raymond: I mean, we’ve all traveled together. We’ve done out-of-town trips together and complained about each other, but it’s nothing new that we’re confined into one space. But living together, I think that’ll be a totally different thing.
Isabelle: No, I cannot live with these folks.

Which Kardashian do you see yourself as and why?
Isabelle: Khloé for sure because she’s funny and she keeps it real.
Liz: I also want Khloé but then, maybe I’m Caitlyn. (Laughs) Maybe I’m in the middle, I don’t know yet. I love wearing nail polish and my earrings, so maybe.
Solenn: I love Kendall, she’s just so chill.
Liz: Actually, I like Kendall. She’s in front of the camera but you don’t really know much about her also. She doesn’t post things on Instagram…which is the opposite of Solenn. (Laughs)
Raymond: I’m Kanye.
Isabelle: No, Adrien’s Kanye!
Solenn: Tapos Nico is Scott.
Isabelle: Arthur is…Rob. (Laughs)

Who’s most likely to…
Throw shade during the confession interviews?
Raymond: All of them. I’m the director, I know.
Isabelle: The confessionals are actually for backstabbing. (Laughs)
Raymond: But you know what’s nice about them is because they have such a strong friendship, they’re not going to be like, “Oh, why’d you call me this on the green screen?” It’s not going to be like that. The shade is on the funny side.
Liz: We’re very opinionated, all of us.

Shop a lot on the show?
All: Georgina.
Isabelle: Liz also!
Liz: Well, George and I, we share things a lot.
Isabelle: And I just borrow.

Spoil the future nieces and nephews?
Isabelle: That would be me.
Liz: Yeah, Belle.
Raymond: Because Belle’s so motherly.
Liz: I think all of us, as well.
Isabelle: Hello! I bought them Gucci shoes already! (Laughs) I was like, “I can’t not buy these!”
