Baka Bukas has been getting a lot of hype recently, and you can finally see it in cinemas starting today.
Directed by Samantha Lee, the movie tells of a love story between two lesbians Alex (Jasmine Curtis) and Jess (Louise Delos Reyes). Samantha explains in the Baka Bukas free zine―which was designed by En Estrada and Mano Gonzales―that the title “evokes a feeling of hope, that maybe tomorrow it will be better.” You can also find quotes from Jasmine and Louise describing their characters.
The plot is interesting, especially since this is one of the first Filipino films which tackle a lesbian love story. Aside from fans, even the celebrities involved are excited to see the movie later.
The film’s gala screening will be tonight at Glorietta Cinema 1, 7 p.m. as part of the annual Cinema One Originals film festival. It will be shown until the 22nd at TriNoma, Greenhills Theatre Mall, Cinematheque Center, and Gateway Mall.
