Lady Gaga has got a busy schedule ahead of her. Set to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, one wonders how she’s preparing for her NFL Super Bowl Halftime Performance.
She gave us a little preview this season by singing the National Anthem and has got a record to follow as she is only the fifth woman to headline the show solo.
The show will be on Feb. 5, 2017, which gives her only two months to prepare (Don’t you wonder how many people make the props for these shows? How many glitter boxes are involved and shipped?) We are sure her dance rehearsals are rigorous and how will she make that entrance unforgettable?
We’ve picked five of the most memorable performances of late which is hard for a show that has booked names like Diana Ross, Aerosmith, and even NSYNC to help her out.
#1 Best Entrance: Madonna
Madonna entered the stage dancing on a gold throne pulled by men in Spartan uniforms. She was in heels, she had a crown. She was singing “Vogue.” It makes Katy Perry’s tiger entrance so pale in comparison.
#2 Best in Accidental Extra: Katy Perry
Speaking of Katy Perry who performed with several outfit and stage changes, she also gave us the most adorable sidekick there was: the Left Shark. The Left Shark became the meme for people who tried their best, who just couldn’t do it but went on anyway, and gave his all amid a full-scale production and even brought in Missy Elliot.
#3 Best in Pure Performance: Michael Jackson
In 1993, back when the words “viral” and “trending” weren’t a thing, Michael Jackson was around to let us know that as much as dancing lights and moving sets are great, nothing beats a total entertainer who danced and sang his way in just black pants and a white shirt.
#4 Best in Controversy: Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson
Staged or not, the “nip slip” of this performance became a fashion term, an expression of faux pas, and a bit for late-night comedians for a long time. Sure, we remember both Justin and Janet for many things before and after this but no one forgets about this incident.
#5 Best in Being a Diva: Beyoncé
She danced in stilettos, brought back Destiny’s Child for a few minutes, and then sent them away to remind us all that she is the Queen.
Lady Gaga, what say you?
