This year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) just started on Christmas day, and four films have already raked in a sum total of P50 million on the first day.
The MMFF Executive Committee listed Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2, Vince & Kath & James, Die Beautiful, and Seklusyon as the top grossing films on opening day. Bandera reports that the four leading films earned a total of P50 million. Meanwhile, the other four films reportedly had a total of P3 million in ticket sales.
The other MMFF entries are Oro, Saving Sally, Sunday Beauty Queen, and Kabisera.
In a Facebook post, the MMFF Executive Committee expressed their gratitude for reaching the target goal on opening day. They also assured the public that they will “continue promoting and supporting the 8 MMFF entries as they all deserve to be watched and patronized by the Filipino audiences.”
This year’s festival is different from the last as the Committee chose indie films rather than the usual “masa“ films. The numbers look promising as of now and we can’t wait to see the results during the awards night on Dec. 29.
