Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Engagement Might Not Be Real…Yet

Will we be seeing a Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? Rumors of the couple’s secret engagement are creating some speculations.

OK! Magazine ran a cover story claiming that Harry proposed to Meghan during a dinner date after eight months of being a couple. A source tells the mag, “The prince asked Meghan to marry him over a glass of champagne. He was worried she would think he was being rash, but she said yes right away. It wasn’t a formal proposal, but a sweet, intimate pledge of their commitment to each other.” The same source also said that the Palace confirmed this news and that Queen Elizabeth II picked the family antique ring.

Rumors sparked further when Meghan’s Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams hinted that she’s “potentially a future princess of England” during a Reddit Q&A. In addition, Meghan also met the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and other royals at Kensington Palace earlier this month.

So that must mean that the two are serious about their relationship and might be thinking of marriage soon, right? Not quite.

Gossip Cop points out that Kensington Palace never confirmed that news despite OK! Magazine‘s report. We also checked the Palace’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, and didn’t find a formal announcement. A source close to Meghan also said that there is “no truth” to the engagement news. Although friends of the couple also predict that an engagement is possible some time this year.

If the rumors are indeed true, then England will have their first American princess. If not, then we’ll just keep our eyes peeled for more date photos and an actual wedding proposal announcement from the Royal Family.
