The Evening Standard made a bold prediction that actress Emma Watson is set to overtake Jennifer Lawrence as the highest-paid actress in the world. How and why? Emma is raking in millions for the success of live-action musical Beauty and the Beast.
The film is the first movie for 2017 to hit the $1 billion mark and that means Emma is still earning because of a special deal she had with Disney. She was paid $2.5 million upfront and she is expected to receive more than $21.3 million because she gets a portion of the movie earnings.
“I think she has the world in the palm of her hand. She is the biggest star in the world right now. She can star in anything,” Liza Anderson, founder of Anderson Group Public Relations told The Evening Standard. “There’s no better position to be in right now. I’m sure she has Hollywood banging at her door.”
Due to the ongoing success of her film, people are expecting Emma to take part in a lot more projects this year allowing her to overtake Jennifer’s $46 million earnings last year.
Emma previously earned about $62.7 million for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series.
