‘Saving Sally’ Receives 3 International Film Nods This Month

Saving Sallya recent favorite in the growing Philippine cinema scene featuring Rhian Ramos, is still garnering awards abroad. Recently, it received special jury prize and the audience award in the international narrative feature section of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

Avid Lingoren, the film’s director, was suprised by the reception it got in LA. “At first, we weren’t sure if people would watch because we were scheduled on a Monday during rush hour. But viewers came and didn’t throw eggs at us and clapped, instead. Many folks watched our film randomly, without knowing anything about it, so it’s nice to know how pleasantly surprised they were,” he said to Inquirer.net.

On top of this Saving Sally got the Best Family Film award at the Bentonville Film Festival in Arkansas. Screewnwriter Charlene Sawit-Esguerra received the award in behalf of the film’s cast and crew. Previously, Saving Sally got a Special Mention award at the Brussels International Film Festival.

Congratulations once again to the Saving Sally team! Here’s to making more Filipino films into international hits!
