When you’re one of the most-followed people in the Philippines, deactivating your Twitter account won’t go unnoticed. Maine Mendoza did and of course, the AlDub fanbase went into a frenzy. The question is, why the sudden leave from Twitter?
According to Inquirer.net, it seems that Maine had some issues with how her fans are treating actor Sef Cadayona after rumors that the two were dating. “I do not get how people can throw so much hate on others. I mean… inano ba nila kayo? (What were they doing to you)?” she wrote on Twitter. “I know how much you love us and how hard you try to protect us but enough with the foul words, guys… Hindi na tama (It’s not right).”
Before she deactivated over the weekend, she left everyone with this tweet: “When peace and love are no longer being served; and whenever you find yourself taking in so much negativity, you have to take a break and reflect.”
While she’s on a Twitter hiatus, Maine is still actively posting photos on Instagram. If you’re wondering what she’s up to, she’s on vacation at Maldives.
Meanwhile, AlDub fans also tweeted out support for the actress. Some also reminded others to be mindful of what they say in the future as it might further affect Maine’s well-being.
Everyone deserves a social media break from time to time, including someone as famous as Maine Mendoza. On the brighter side, she’s seeing more of the world without worrying about the Twittersphere.
