K-drama fans woke up to good news as Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo announced that they will get married this Oct. 31. This comes as a pleasant surprise as the two often denied rumors that they are dating, even if they’ve been spotted on trips together—citing it as merely coincidence. Mmhmm.
Their management agencies gave a joint statement for the announcement. “Since marriage is also between families—as well as between individuals—they had to be careful. The two had to be cautious (about their relationship) until it bore fruit in matrimony.” So now you understand why they had to keep it on the down low.
They met while shooting their TV series, Descendants of the Sun, where Kim Joong-ki plays a captain, while Song Hye-kyo plays a doctor. They fell in love in a war-torn setting proving Rihanna to be right, you can find love (again) in a hopeless place. I mean this fictional (now real!) couple met in a hospital for crying out loud.
Now that they announced their wedding and made their relationship official, there are rumors flying around that the luxury house that Song Joong-ki bought earlier this year may be their new home. He bought the two-story home for a whopping $8.9 million. The total floor area is around 371.7 square meters, perfect for a family.
Congratulations, you two!
