Travel vlogger Wil Dasovich broke the news yesterday that he was diagnosed with cancer. He didn’t get into the nitty-gritty and simply focused on being positive and inspiring others.
Since early this year, he’s been going through a couple of symptoms that he had to fly back to San Francisco to get further tests and treatment—he vlogged all through out the whole ordeal, even when he blacked out on meds—and eventually found out about his diagnosis through a phone call.
His most recent video, which is about to reach a million views, started with “I think everyone wants to live a long life. I would like to live a long life, but what’s more important to me is how I live my life.” He then proceeds to talk about growing up in the States, about the Southeast Asian countries he visited, and of course, how he fell in love with the Philippines where he stayed and chased his dream as an entertainer.
“Are you satisfied with the way you’ve lived your life and have you maximized your experiences? My answer to that question is yes. That’s why I’m content with my condition and the hardships I face.” He shared that he will never stop vlogging because he’s the type who’s never not doing anything and creating content simply gives him joy. He also thanked his viewers for their messages and their undying support, “I truly love each and every one of you. I’m overwhelmingly grateful for helping me to get to this point in my life and making it everything it was, making it everything it is.”
Friends from the industry, even personalities he never met, and fans started reposting his video with the hopes of helping Wil realize his dream to reach one million subscribers. But what caught our attention was way past the #1MilforWil goal, but all their sweet and encouraging messages that accompanied it. Here’s a few.
“If there’s one thing to take away from this video, it’s to experience as much as possible in the amount of time that you have.” Thank you for the reminder, Wil, and continue to be an inspiration. We’re looking forward to more vlogs!
