Jim Carrey Is Not Here for Inane Red Carpet Interviews

If you’re a big Hollywood star like Jim Carrey, you’ve done more red carpet interviews than there are emojis in the latest smartphone update. So you can’t blame him if he spiced up his chat with E! News with deep existential messages.

“There’s no meaning to any of this. So I wanted to find the most meaningless event I can find and join and here I am. You gotta admit this is completely meaningless,” he said at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party. The wide-eyed reporter soldiered on even if she became increasingly bewildered as Jim sang one line and said “I don’t believe in icons. I don’t believe in personalities.”

Jim concluded that “It’s not our world. We don’t matter. There’s the good news.” Dazed pointed out that Jim is clearly not okay. The actor is up for trial in connection to the suicide of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White. Cathriona’s parents insist that Jim provided the drugs for her death. The actor has also been vocal about his struggles with depression so there is something more to this than just a gag.

We hope you find some hope, Jim. We’re rooting for you to deadpan more reporters on the red carpet.
