With breast cancer awareness month fast approaching, Julia Louis-Dreyfus shares a message on Twitter. She starts off by revealing her own diagnosis with cancer. The message begins with, “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one.” She then goes on with a positive note, mentioning her support system, “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.” However, she points out that not everyone has that privilege, “The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
A strong message from a strong woman who has, in this past month, accepted the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. This is the sixth time in a row she has accepted this award.
Her role as Selina Meyer on Veep will be coming to an end as the upcoming seventh season will be the last. Julia told The Hollywood Reporter, “It became clear that this season should be the last season. We don’t want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has finality to it that feels end-of-series. I struggled with it and then it just hit me. It’s hard to say goodbye to such a good thing.”
Congratulations on all your success so far, Julia and we know you’ll fight breast cancer hard.
