Today’s surprise engagement news comes from Iza Calzado and Ben Wintle. We got the scoop at how it all went down.
Ben gathered their family and closest friends in Tagaytay at 11 a.m. Guests included Karylle, Patti Grandidge, Rajo Laurel, Kat Cruz, and Nix Alañon. He also promised that he’ll strip if Iza said yes. “If she says no, then all is lost. I’ll still strip. I’ve got nothing to lose, right?”
He first surprised Iza with a bouquet before popping the question.
Iza exclaimed that she wasn’t prepared while asking what was going on. “Okay, wait. It’s nicer without the jacket,” she said laughing. Before Ben went down on one knee, she joked, “Can I see the ring first?”
Ben then asked for Iza’s hand in Filipino, “Pwede ba kitang makasamang kumain at sumayaw habang buhay?” (Can we eat and dance together forever?) Before saying “yes,” Iza checked if the rock was real and gave Ben one condition: “As long as you shower every night before you go to bed!”
