What to Expect from Solenn Heussaff’s Art Exhibit?

If you have been following Solenn Heussaff’s Instagram posts for over a year now, you would have seen the project she has been working on. Along with her three-year-old nephew Kaeden, she was putting together pieces for her second art exhibit called Kalsada, which was finally unveiled last night.

In an Instagram post, Solenn thanked everyone who came out to support her, “Couldn’t be more grateful and blessed to have worked with the best partner ever and be surrounded tonight with so much love! Thank you to everyone who came. From the bottom of my heart!”

On her blog, she also shares the inspiration for her exhibit, the Filipino people. “It’s called Kalsada, because the subjects are based on everyday people I’ve seen and met while going around the Philippines.” She also mentioned how Kaeden played a key role in the collaboration. “The series of paintings we came up with are all so colorful, even if some of the surroundings and expressions are quite sad. It was actually Kaeden who used so much color, and I guess it kind of makes you appreciate how children naturally see things in a positive way.”

Kalsada will be open to the public for free from Oct. 20 to Nov. 5 at the Provenance Art Gallery in Shangri-La at the Fort. You can also catch Solenn there today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
