After a week in coma due to a brain hemorrhage, actress Isabel Granada, 41, passed away last Saturday. Her former and current showbiz colleagues also paid tribute and shared their memories of working with her.
Director Lav Diaz told Inquirer that Isabel gave a “memorable performance” in the 1999 film Hubad Sa Ilalim ng Buwan. Meanwhile, Xenoa director, Sean Lim also shared that Isabel was a good friend of his and that they were planning to work on another film this year.
Sen. Tito Sotto, who played Isabel’s father in the 1987 sitcom Hapi House, also expressed his grief with Inquirer. “My wife Helen (Gamboa) and I are grieving. She was like a daughter to me. Years later, Helen and I would still call her Bimbim, the name of her character in the show.”
Lovi Poe shared a throwback photo with Isabel on her Instagram Stories. The actresses starred in the 2008 drama Kaputol ng Isang Awit.
Singer Janno Gibbs also posted an “In Memoriam” on his Instagram account. He previously commented on one of Isabel’s posts, saying that he’s praying for her fast recovery.
Lea Salonga simply posted “Rest in peace, Isabel Granada” on her Facebook page.
Isabel Granada became popular in That’s Entertainment, where she was a regular performer. She starred in films like Shake, Rattle & Roll II and Naked Under the Moon, and also recorded two albums.
The late actress’ remains will reportedly arrive in Manila on Thursday. We’d like to extend our deepest condolences to Isabel’s close friends and family.
