Miss Jamaica came in as second runner-up while Miss Colombia is the first runner-up.
The Philippines’ Rachel Peters entered the top 15 together with Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ghana, South Africa, Spain, Ireland, Croatia, Great Britain, Colombia, USA, Brazil, Canada, Venezuela, and Jamaica.
Demi-Leigh and Rachel broke through the top 10 easily with USA, Brazil, Canada, Thailand, South Africa, Jamaica, Colombia, and Spain.
In the top five, the competition was cut down to South Africa, Venezuela, Thailand, Jamaica, and Colombia.
The top three was a nail-biter with Miss Jamaica, Miss Colombia, and Miss South Africa. They answered the same question: “What quality in yourself are you most proud of and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?”
Miss South Africa answered by saying she will be confident, strong, and do what is needed.
During the final look, the top three walked to Rachel Plattan’s Broken Glass.
The 66th Miss Universe was held in The Axis in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judges for the competition were Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Ross Matthews, Lele Pons, America’s Next Top Model judge Jay Manuel, Megan Olivi, and Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam. Steve Harvey served as host.
