Piolo Pascual Is Singing in a Film About the Marcos Dictatorship

What’s better than watching Piolo Pascual on the big screen? Answer: Watching him sing in a musical film.

Director Lav Diaz is coming out with his new movie Ang Panahon ng Halimaw (Season of the Devil). It will be a Filipino rock opera which will focus on a love story set during the Marcos dictatorship.

Piolo will play a poet-activist who’s looking for his wife in a remote village. He’s even rocking a longer hairstyle in the film.

Just like his internationally acclaimed 2016 film Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis, which also starred Piolo, this will have politically charged dialogue. Ang Panahon ng Halimaw will also star Shaina Magdayao, Pinky Amador, Bart Guingona, Bituin Escalante, Hazel Orencio, and Angel Aquino. So expect all of them to have singing parts.

The film will premiere at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival on Feb. 15. There’s no news yet on a Philippine date. We hope it doesn’t take months before we see it. We’re all here for the controversial plot and Piolo serenading everyone.
