Why Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson Carried White Roses to the Grammys Red Carpet

This year’s awards shows have been making a point to make a stand up against sexual misconduct and gender inequality. The Grammys are no different as musicians brought white flowers in support of the Time’s Up movement.

The white rose initiative was started by Voices in Entertainment because the flower “historically it stands for hope, peace, sympathy, and resistance.” Many opted to pin it on their dresses like what Lady Gaga, Rita Ora, and Pink did.

Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus hand-carried long-stemmed white roses to the red carpet.

Others got creative with how they incorporated it to their look. Julia Michaels showed off a white rose on her hand, while Zayn Malik wore a dusty pink blazer with a white rose embroidered on the lapel.

Now we can’t wait for the other strong statements that will be made during the show. Is it going to be political? Will they be subtle or blatant about the issues surrounding powerful people? (Don’t worry, we’re looking out for more info in case you miss them!)
