No matter where you are in the world, you’re bound to see posts about the Super Bowl. Most especially the Pepsi Halftime Show which was headlined by Justin Timberlake.
The performance had mixed reactions, particularly with how Justin paid tribute to the late Prince. There are also those who haven’t forgotten about what he did to Janet Jackson in 2004. JT sure knows how to be consistently controversial during the Super Bowl.
But aside from that, there are more notable moments from Super Bowl LII. It also seems that more people are more interested in them over the halftime show. Let’s look back on them, shall we?
Pink singing the national anthem
Despite having a flu (and even spitting out her throat lozenge on the field), Pink powered through to sing the national anthem. It wasn’t a perfect performance—she missed a few notes toward the end—but it still gave a lot of people chills. Including me!
“Selfie Kid”
This young teen became an instant Internet celebrity after taking a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the Halftime Show. Netizens are calling him “Selfie Kid” and has already created funny memes like him Googling who Justin was.
Some netizens also predicted that he’s the next Super Bowl icon after Katy Perry’s Left Shark dancer in 2015.
A new Star Wars teaser!!!
It’s almost two months since The Last Jedi premiered and we’re getting another Star Wars film this summer. Everyone got a first look at the highly-anticipated Han Solo prequel film titled Solo: A Star Wars Story. It stars Alden Ehrreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, and Woody Harrelson. Chewbacca’s there too, of course. Now we can’t wait for the full trailer tomorrow. [Geeks out]
More Infinity War content
Another big trailer during the Super Bowl was from Avengers: Infinity War. It’s only 30 seconds long, but it felt like so much was happening. Spider-Man was hanging on the side of a spacecraft, the Guardians of the Galaxy possibly flying to Earth, and more bearded Captain America. Just watch it to see what we mean.
New Netflix movies
Of course, Netflix also bombarded everyone with new releases. The surprise ones was sci-fi thriller The Cloverfield Paradox, which was launched right after the Super Bowl. We wonder how many people lost sleep for that.
The other movie trailer was from Red Sparrow which stars Jennifer Lawrence. It’s about a Russian woman who escapes execution by becoming a “sparrow,” or someone who uses seduction and manipulation to get intel. (Quite fitting considering the situation surrounding Pres. Donald Trump and Russia.)
Everyone has heavy feelings for the Super Bowl episode of This Is Us
If you haven’t seen the latest episode of This Is Us, we suggest you scroll past this point right now. But if you have, then you probably cleared out your Kleenex box.
“Super Bowl Sunday” revolved around Jack Pearson’s (Milo Ventimiglia) cause of death which was due to smoke suffocation caused by the fire in his home. All because he went back to save their family dog. The rest, as Entertainment Weekly detailed, was an emotional roller coaster that several fans couldn’t handle it.
Even Lea Salonga wanted a glass of wine after watching that episode. We feel you, girl.
