What an eventful 24 hours we’ve had, well, at least for ComicCon Asia happening this weekend.
Actress Hayley Atwell, famous for her role as Agent Peggy Carter and love interest of Captain America for the first two films, cancelled her appearance for the convention this weekend. The organizers said it was because of “perceived ‘political unrest in the country.’” They said the actress sent a message saying that, “she is not comfortable making the trip.”
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was asked for a comment regarding Ms. Atwell’s reason, and his response via SMS was “Her loss, and who’s she?” In the report, Roque also denied that our country is going through a political unrest. “Wrong perception, because there’s none.”
Last night, Hayley shared her statement on her personal Instagram account, it seems that the real reason behind her cancellation was actually a conflict in schedule. In a handwritten note, she said that the changes in her schedule did not allow her to travel far. She said that she will be sharing about the projects that she’s busy with as soon as she is allowed to do so. “I hope to see you in future conventions soon.”
This seems to be the total opposite to what the organizers said in their statement. So, what is the real reason behind her cancellation?
