Sarah Geronimo couldn’t finish singing her hit song “Forever’s Not Enough,” during her This 15 Me concert in Las Vegas. She was too emotional and also tired to continue.
She started off by talking about Michael Jackson and how she would watch clips of his concert and see fans crying, trying to touch and get a glimpse of the famous performer. “I realized na hindi po pala ako handa doon. Ginusto ko po maibahagi yung talento ko pero hindi po pala ko handa doon sa mga kasama dun sa hiningi ko, lalong-lalo na ‘yung pressure to always do good, maging role model ka, maging perpekto ka. Mahirap po.” (I realized I wasn’t ready for all that. I wanted to share my talent, but I was not ready for everything else that came with it most especially the pressure to do good, to be a role model, to always be perfect. It’s hard.)
“I’m so sorry. Pagod po ako. I’m so sorry. I hope na kayanin ko po, i-survive ko ‘tong gabing ito, because you paid. Gumastos po kayo para mabigyan kayo ng entertainment. I’m sorry,” she said as her voice started breaking. (I’m sorry. I’m tired. I’m so sorry. I hope I can do this, to survive this night because you paid. You paid so that I can give you entertainment. I’m sorry.)
“I began asking myself, ‘Bakit (why) I feel empty?'” Sarah shared. “Hindi yung successful na shows o yung mga hits ang makakapag-kumpleto sa ‘yo, ang makakapagpasaya sa ‘yo bilang isang tao, kundi ‘yung tunay na pagmamahal na hindi nagbabago, perpekto ka man o hindi.” (It’s not the successful shows or the hits that will complete you or make you happy as a person. It’s true love that never changes even if your perfect or not.”
She revealed that she also tried to find other things to do that will fulfill her. “Until now, pumapasok pa rin siya sa isip ko. But then, may nagsabi sa akin na, ‘Sarah, huwag ka na maghanap, kasi iyan ‘yung binigay na talento ng Diyos para sa ‘yo, so use that as a platform to honor His name, to glorify His name, and to become an inspiration to other people.’” (Until now it still enters my mind. But then, some people told me, “Sarah, don’t look for other things. This is the talent that God gave you so you can use that as a platform to honor His name, to glorify His name, and to become an inspiration to other people.”
Sarah started singing “Forever’s Not Enough” and dedicated it to her fans and supporters. But towards the end of the song, she couldn’t continue. She exited the stage and tried to recover.
Her boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli who is currently in Manila shared a photo of him and Sarah on the beach with a caption to encourage her, “Keep walking, I’ll always be beside you. No matter what. I love you, my love. And I miss you.”
It takes strength to acknowledge what you feel and be able to openly talk about it. You go, Sarah! Your family, Matteo, and fans are here to support you.
