With the lack of sex education in Philippine schools and universities, we often turn to other available materials—mostly found on the Internet. However, there’s still a lot to be done, especially in terms of embracing sex positivity in our conservative country. This is why two advocates started Now Open, an online platform that basically gives us the sex ed we never got.
Created by former The Big O columnist Trisha O’Bannon and social science student Cai Antonio, Now Open made their first posts just last night on Twitter and Facebook. According to their bio, it aims to “[provide] alternative sex education with the goal of eradicating sex negativity.”
Trisha added in a tweet, “Most of us grow up with no idea how to have sex safely, pleasurably, consensually, and compassionately—[Cai] and I definitely did.” So that pretty much gives you an idea of what to expect once Now Open goes into full motion.
