Serena Williams is not here for your sexist comments

You would think that in 2018, women would stop getting sexist comments. Well, it seems that some men still need to learn. During an interview with Serena Williams, one reporter thought it was okay to ask if she was ever intimidated by Maria Sharapova’s “supermodel good looks.”

According to Nylon, Inside Tennis reporter Bill Simons said, “I have been waiting about 14 years to ask you this question. After the 2004 Wimbledon match with Maria, I had the opportunity to interview Donald Trump on his L.A. golf course, and he said that Maria’s shoulders were incredibly alluring and then he came up with his incredible analysis: that you were intimidated by her supermodel good looks. My question is: Have you ever been intimidated by anyone on a tennis court, and what are your thoughts about that occurrence?”

Serena replied, “I honestly don’t have any thoughts about that. I can’t say I have been intimidate by anyone. That’s all. That’s it.”

I’m sorry, did Bill forget that Serena has won 23 Grand Slam championships?

After the interview transcript was posted on Twitter, Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian shared his thoughts. “Waited 14 years… for this? Pro-[tip]: Wait at least another 14 more years before asking another question.”

Bill, of course, tried to defend himself by saying, “I apologize if my awkward ques seemed [to] empower Trump or attack Serena/I So admire her.”

Let this serve as a lesson against sexism because this needs to stop.
