In case you haven’t heard, Queer Eye will be back for a second season. And you don’t have to wait much longer. Eight new episodes will be available for streaming on Netflix starting June 15 and you can check out this link for more updates. But, since there are a few days left till then, we wanted to give you some reasons to catch this new season. I mean, the Fab Five should be reason enough but let’s look at some other details. Don’t worry, I won’t give away too much. Just enough to tease what you can expect. Oh, and we might just be sitting down with the Fab Five to ask them a few questions so watch this space for updates.
Bob Ross references
If you don’t know who Bob Ross is, he was an American painter known for his show The Joy of Painting. You might be familiar with his calming voice, curly hair, and beautiful landscape paintings. Yes, this is the guy Ryan Reynolds was copying in the Deadpool 2 teaser trailer. While the Fab Five were traveling around Georgia, they made a few referenced to Bob Ross. They would compare the scenery to his paintings and even someone’s hair to his. I counted three references, let me know if I missed any.
Queer and proud
Just like the first season, there were members of the LGBTQ community who were introduced. One was a gay son of one of their subjects who was seeking acceptance from their church community. In the fifth episode, we are introduced to a transgender man who just underwent top surgery. Aside from leveling his space and the way he dresses, they tackle more serious topics. One was the process of him changing his gender from female to male on his license. This was a pretty heavy episode so get ready for the tears.
Return of the ascot
The Fab Five’s fashion sense are all different but there was one accessory that stood out among the rest: the ascot scarf. I first saw this on Antoni who wore it in a few episodes and some of the other guys wore one too. If you want to rock this accessory too, check out this list of square scarves.
Does true love exist?
Just like Tom and Abby, there’s another love story in this season you need to look out for. Just like in a romantic comedy film, they were best friends. He was planning on moving to have a fresh start at life and she wasn’t too happy about it. Did she convince him to say? You’re going to wait and find out.
QE Hip Tips
At the end of each episode, one member of the Fab Five gives a quick QE Hip Tip like serving coffee after a dinner you’ve hosted at your home. There are others that touch fashion, grooming, and culture. But, there are also tips that you can picking from the episode itself. Need some grooming advice? Jonathan has got you covered. Looking for a quick meal to prepare after work? Take note on Antoni’s recipes. Want to boost your confidence but don’t know how? Let Karamo’s wise words help you.
