Just a few minutes ago, CNN announced that Anthony Bourdain was found dead at the age of 61. The cause of his death is suicide. Reports say that his friend and French chef Eric Ripert found him unresponsive in his hotel room. He was in France filming for an episode of Parts Unknown.
“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time,” said the statement released by CNN.
Anthony was a staunch supporter of the #MeToo movement and was one of the few men who was not afraid to use his voice and influence against Harvey Weinstein.
He talked openly about it and posted on his Twitter account. And yes, he also defended his partner Asia Argento when she called out Alec Baldwin for defending and protecting Harvey.
Rest in peace, Anthony.
