How to survive a terrible work day according to ‘Set It Up’

It’s a Wednesday hump day and what better way to get us through a tough workweek than be inspired by a new flick? I’m talking about Netflix’s Set It Up. Probably one of the most relatable movies I’ve seen in a while—most especially when it comes to being part of the work force. No, our bosses are not as intense as Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs’ characters, but just like anyone we also get bad days.

Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, which I strongly believe you should (RN!), the movie is about two overworked assistants Harper and Charlie, played by Zoey Deutch and Glenn Powell respectively, who tries to set up their bosses with the hopes of getting a work-life balance.

But op, let me stop myself because I’m not here to dish some spoilers. I’m here to help get you through a work week. So here are a few tips we picked up from our new fave film.

Find your “office bestie”

Okay, maybe you won’t like each other at first, but eventually realize that you are both going through the same thing and everything will just click? Harper and Charlie are not exactly office best friends, but since they share the same office building and are actually friends first (oops!), then that’s counted. Your office bestie will help you get through the best and tough times on the job!

Consider keeping a cot in the office—or at least a pillow

When Harper and Charlie bragged about how dedicated their bosses are to their jobs, Harper said her boss keeps a cot in her office, but Charlie’s boss keeps a Tempur cot—“It’s like the Tesla of cots!”

Keeping a cot or a pillow allows you to take cat naps during your breaks or when you have to stay late. These quick naps will allow you to recharge, get a burst of energy, and finish the task at hand.

Don’t be afraid to indulge yourself with good food, even if it’s through delivery

There are days when you have to stay late to finish deadlines and that means you need to buy extra dinner or a snack. In times like these, don’t be afraid to indulge yourself with a saffron-infused Kobe beef cooked medium rare or a truffle mac and cheese. LOL.

Try your best to not steal other people’s dinner, okay? Only try to bargain and split if your job really depends on it.

Drink (moderately) to relieve stress

There’s no problem grabbing a drink or two to relieve pressure and stress, just make sure you make it in time the next day. And oh, no alcohol less than $200 okay! (Kidding, that’s just for Charlie’s boss.)

Either way, drink with your officemates or even friends from outside work. Enjoy!
