FDCP chair Liza Diño-Seguerra was called “unprofessional” for a face mask prank

Uh-oh! Film Development Council of the Philippines chairman Liza Diño-Seguerra was slammed on the Internet for posting a photo of her wearing a sheet mask during a late-night meeting.

Her post was captioned, “‘Multitasking’ while discussing the last agenda of the day. Si Jo Andrew, hindi makatingin. Hehe.” (Jo Andrew can’t look at me) She even added a ghost emoji at the end of her post.

At first glance, it is unprofessional, yes. A high ranking woman prioritizing skincare during a meeting is not cool and unacceptable. Liza should’ve been focused on the task at hand, and at the same time set an example for the rest of her team. And that’s why netizen with the Twitter handle @MiaMagdalena pointed it out.

But when you find out what really happened and understand it with context, Liza was just making fun of their situation—it was 2 a.m. and she just wanted joke around with her team so they could lighten up. She also clarified that the post was indeed staged and that she posted it on her personal account.

As GMA reported, it was really to humor her staff. If you were in Liza’s shoes, wouldn’t you do that too to boost morale a little bit?

Her prank got people worked up, but what about other government officials who make offensive (rape!) jokes during official work hours and public events? Let’s choose our battles.
