This ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ scene is the key to ‘Avengers 4’

Ant-Man and the Wasp was a rollercoaster of emotions. Aside from the funny moments of the film, there were action-packed scenes and of course, that mid-credit scene. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, then we suggest you click away right now because we’re about to talk about some post-film theories.

Spoilers begin…now.

Many have been wondering how Ant-Man and the Wasp would tie in with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. The movie made it clear that it happens right after Captain America: Civil War and the mid-credits showed the aftermath of Thanos’ snap. The Pym-Van Dyne family turn to ash and Scott Lang is left floating in the Quantum Realm.

After watching the film, I immediately read up on theories on what might be in store for Avengers 4. So sit back and maybe get some coffee because I’m listing some of them below.

Escaping the Quantum Realm

There are a few possibilities: either Luis finds the van or Ghost pulls Scott out of the realm. That is, if they didn’t turn to ash. Scott could do it himself like in the first Ant-Man film, where he grew back to normal size to get out of the Quantum Real, but the new suit seems to have new functions and doesn’t work the same way. Bustle also suggests that Captain Marvel can rescue Scott since she can time-travel and traverse the multiverse and the Quantum Realm. So maybe we’ll see Scott again in Captain Marvel. (Coincidentally, they finished production the day Ant-Man and the Wasp premiered.)

The time vortexes

Before transporting Scott in the Quantum Realm, Janet Van Dyne briefly reminded him, “Don’t get sucked into a time vortex. We won’t be able to save you.” If no one comes to Scott’s rescue, it’s possible that he’ll enter one of those vortexes and travel back or forward in time. It’s possible that he’ll emerge in the future since the MCU reportedly recruited Emma Furhmann to play teenage Cassie Lang (Scott’s daughter, so it probably means she’s safe from the snap!). That also means that he’ll see a brand new world post-Thanos and with half of the Avengers gone.

There are also theories that he’ll go back to the timeline of the first Avengers movie after rumors that they’re bringing back Battle of New York set for the fourth movie. Perhaps Scott will warn the Avengers about the universe’s imminent doom.

Accessing the Soul Stone

I briefly mentioned this theory before that the key to saving half the universe is by releasing them from the Soul Stone. Although I cited that only one person—Adam Warlock—can access the Soulworld according to the comics, it’s also possible that Scott can do it too. The MCU does tend to veer away from the comics and creates its own canon, so hear us out. Observer notes that there might be a doorway in the Quantum Realm going to the Soulworld. If that’s true, this will give Ant-Man and Captain Marvel a chance to save everyone. It’s still highly possible that your favorite superheroes will be resurrected after Avengers 4including Gamora, apparently.

Doctor Strange’s prediction

Remember how Doctor Strange said there was only one probability of success out of 14 million against Thanos? After he willingly gave the Time Stone to the Mad Titan, you’d think that all was lost. But it’s also possible that Ant-Man is the key to making Strange’s prediction happen. Screen Rant suggests that Strange handed the Time Stone because it was literally “the only way” to achieve success. Now that we have Ant-Man who can enter different multiverses and Captain Marvel on the way, Strange might be on the right track.

Screen Rant also adds that Tony Stark can be a crucial element in the fight against Thanos since he can develop the time-travel technology that he and the other Avengers can use to fix everything. That said though, does that mean Tony will sacrifice himself to save everyone?

Was Ant-Man already in the Quantum Realm in the other films?

Forbes has a mind-f*ck of a theory about the Battle of New York. Since Scott is stuck in the Quantum Realm, it’s possible that he’ll gain the same telepathic-like powers that Janet got when she was in there for years. Combine that with the ability to time travel, there’s a chance that he could communicate with anyone in the past about Thanos and the snap. Particularly, Nick Fury, who formed the Avengers when he found out that aliens were going to attack the Earth.

The outlet suggests that Nick might’ve had the Captain Marvel pager way before Infinity War. Meaning that he might have been expecting something big to happen in the future—even bigger than the Battle in New York. How did he know? Well, Scott told him from the future.
