Ruby Rose will represent the LGBT community as Batwoman

DC Entertainment shows on The CW have come a long way. From starting off with just one show to now having four, including crossover episodes, the franchise is one to watch.

Aside from The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, there is a new show in the works. According to Variety, there will be a Batwoman series with Ruby Rose cast as the lead. She will first make an appearance during  a crossover episode. “The CW is also currently developing a series based around the character, whose real name is Kate Kane.”

Having a Batwoman series will be great for representation on TV since she is an out lesbian “and [a] highly trained street fighter.”

Ruby also shared her excitement on Instagram. “The bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck because this is a childhood dream.”

She continued, “This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on TV and felt alone and different.”

Congratulations, Ruby! We can’t wait to see what your character has in store for us.
