Jennifer Garner is supportive of ex-husband Ben Affleck’s battle against addiction

This week, Hollywood actor Ben Affleck was spotted being driven to a treatment facility by ex-wife Jennifer Garner. For the 46-year-old actor, the battle with addiction has been a continuous struggle. His first time in rehab was in 2001, while the second was just last year.

He has always been open about his addiction. “There’s no shame in getting help,” he wrote in a Facebook post in 2017. “I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.” Back then, it was Jennifer and his brother Casey who stepped up and encouraged him to go back to inpatient treatment.

According to People, “He is seeking treatment. He knew he needed help and was vocal about it.” For the actor, “This is a lifelong battle, not one that he takes lightly.”

Ben has credited his friends and family for helping him get through the tough times. “I had good friends. I had Matt Damon, I had my brother, and I had a nucleus of friends that I grew up with and I had support from,” he said. Ben has also found support in Jennifer, despite their pending divorce. Another source from People said, “For Jen, it’s simple. She wants Ben to be the best dad possible to their kids,”  and that she just wants Ben to be healthy. “What she ultimately cares about is his sobriety and whether she can rely on him to co-parent.”
