This is what a ’90’s Pinoy Meteor Garden would look like

We’ve known the classic Meteor Garden has had its fair share of remakes. There’s the Hana Yori Dango from Japan, and of course, the latest one from China. But ever wondered what a local version would look like? During the weekend, netizens did. The hashtag #MeteorGardenfanfic became a trending topic, initiated by user Halamans of Manila (@HalamansOfMnl). Other users joined in the creation of this version, and soon the Pinoy remake of the iconic show became a full-blown fan fiction concept, complete with casts and reimagined scenes. According to netizens, this is what a local ’90’s version of Meteor Garden would look like:

The cast

The fanfic came alive when Halamans Of Manila tweeted that they think Jericho Rosales, Piolo Pascual, and Diether Ocampo could be our answer to F4’s Jerry Yan, Vaness Wu, and Ken Chu.

It was established that Jericho is Dao Ming Si, while Piolo and Diether are Mei Zhou and Xi Men. While some netizens say Paulo Avelino can fill the role of Hua Ze Lei, it was underscored that this was a 90’s remake, so Rico Yan was eventually cast by the Internet (good job, guys).

For San Chai, none other than our very own ’90’s darling, Jolina Magdangal can do the job, of course.

Don’t worry, Marvin Agustin is still in the picture. Only this time, he can be San Chai’s best friend.

Oh, and Princess Punzalan can be Dao Ming Si’s mom

Note: Some netizens argued Carlos Agassi can be a better Mei Zhou. Halamans Of Manila explained why this isn’t possible (sorry, Carlos).

The scenes

Now that we have the cast, we have to picture them in action. Just so you’ll be convinced that they fit the bill, here they are in the show’s most iconic scenes, like the bodega scene where Dao Ming Si rescued San Chai.

Or San Chai’s iconic makeover prior to the piano scene.

And that emotional scene of San Chai getting friendzoned by Hua Zi Lei.

Of course, we can’t forget about the tear-jerker bus scene.
