Henry Cavill’s cryptic post may be hinting at a ‘Wonder Woman’ cameo

The Hollywood Reporter released a report last night that Henry Cavill is reportedly hanging his cape as Superman. This was due to scheduling conflicts for his cameo in Shazam! and “contract talks between Cavill’s WME reps and the studio broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.”

A source said that one of the reasons is that Warner Bros. plans to shift the focus on a Supergirl movie, which will be an origin story. And based on DC lore, Superman would still be an infant during that timeline, so it’s inevitable that Henry will be out of the picture.

In response, Henry later posted a cryptic Instagram post. He simply stared at the camera with Johann Strauss’ “The Blue Danube” (dog version) playing in the background as he held a Superman figurine.

Kinda weird, but if you think about it, why didn’t he use the Superman theme? A quick IMDB check also shows that the song was played in another DCEU movie: Wonder Woman. Is he hinting that he’s going to make an appearance in the Wonder Woman sequel? That’s a huge spoiler then!

Hours after the THR report came out, Henry’s agent Dany Garcia tweeted, “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet.” She also hinted that Warner Bros. will be releasing a statement regarding the matter.

The WB statement was vague and didn’t really answer the question on whether Henry is on his way out or not. The production company did note that they “have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films.” But they didn’t necessarily say that he’s not going to do any future cameos.

The rumors on Henry’s exit is still a bit confusing right now. But the good news is that following this, reports also popped up that Ben Affleck is leaving his role as Batman and no one has disproved that thus far. (TBH, I personally wouldn’t mind since I don’t want to see a Harvey Weinstein enabler, among other things, on-screen.)

So what do you think? Will we see Superman in the upcoming Wonder Woman film?
