At 24 years old, I’ve only ridden a plane twice—both times were domestic flights, and the last was in 2009. After almost 10 years, I finally got my own suitcase for future (hopefully overseas) travels. And I have to admit, the whole “what bags to bring for a long-haul trip” conversation can be a bit intimidating, especially for first-time travelers.
If you want to start building your luggage and storage collection too, we’ve listed down some suggestions before you book that plane ticket.
Xiaomi RunMi 90 Points Trolley Suitcase 20″ Nebula Red
We know how tempting it can be to purchase a neutral-colored suitcase. But you’re more than free to pick out a bright and fun color. The pros are that you’ll easily see your luggage on the baggage carousel, and it’s in your favorite color. (I bought a baby pink suitcase and I have no regrets.) This one from Xiaomi comes in various colors, is lightweight, and more importantly, sturdy. It also comes with a TSA lock system. Available on Shopee.
Pacsafe Citysafe CX Anti-Theft Convertible Backpack
It’s also important to have a hand carry bag or backpack so you can bring certain valuables with you during a flight. You can bring this bag with you while exploring the country you’re in. This one from Pacsafe can fit 8 liters worth of things and it’s anti-theft, so your valuables are safe from petty thieves. Available at SM Mall of Asia.
Bagstationz Travel First Aid Organizer Pouch
This looks like a first aid kit but you can use this to store toiletries and makeup so they don’t scatter all over your suitcase or bag. There are two pockets inside that can fit travel-sized items. Available on Zalora PH.
Paccube Double Sided Packing Cube
Aside from its space-saving benefits, this packing cube can also segregate your clean and used clothes. That way, you’ll know which ones you need to throw in the laundry when you get home. Plus, you can put clothes in here and not worry about them getting wrinkled. Available online.
Sea to Summit Travelling Light Shoe Bag
Another space-saving hack you can do is to get a shoe bag to put your extra pair in without disrupting the clothes you already folded. Plus, this will keep clothes clean from dirt if you decide to put your other sneakers in here when you’re flying home. Grab this nifty one from Sea to Summit which can hold regular-sized sneakers as well as boots. Available at TriNoma Mall.
