Here’s how I listen to the ‘A Star Is Born’ soundtrack

We’re still not over A Star Is Born, especially since we heard about the Grammy news. No, the OST isn’t eligible but “Shallow” still has a chance to be nominated. Ever since news broke, I’ve been listening to the soundtrack even more and feeling all the emotions leftover from the film. After being on loop a few times, here’s a guide on when you can play and sing along to the different tracks.

“Shallow”

Play this: When you’re building up the courage to do something

Trying to be extremely courageous? Let this song give you that extra push. Let these words inspire you: I’m off the deep end, watch as I dive in / I’ll never meet the ground / Crash through the surface, where they can’t hurt us / We’re far from the shallow now.

“Maybe It’s Time”

Play this: When you’re late for work… again

You wake up on a Monday morning, you check your phone, and realize that you overslept. Yup, for the nth time, you’re going to be late for work or an important meeting. While getting ready, play “Maybe It’s Time” and sing along with Bradley Cooper: Maybe it’s time to let the old ways die / Maybe it’s time to let the old ways die / It takes a lot to change a man / Hell, it takes a lot to try / Maybe it’s time to let the old ways die. As you’re singing, set those alarms for tomorrow morning to break the chain.

“Look What I Found”

Play this: When you’re learning to love yourself

Sure, this can be dedicated to your significant other, but why not play this for yourself. Take a page from Ariana Grande’s self-love and appreciation by dedicating each line of this track to yourself. Belt it out like Lady Gaga: But look what I found / Somebody who loves me / Look what I found / Somebody who’ll carry / ‘Round a piece of my heart / Just layin’ on the ground

“Always Remember Us This Way”

Play this: When your skin is living its best life

We’ve all had the moment where you’re doing your skincare routine and you realize how amazing your skin looks. For once, it actually looks so good and glowy, so you take it all in and appreciate it because it might not last. For this exact moment, you can play “Always Remember Us This Way.” Don’t forget the lines, Every time we say goodbye / Baby, it hurts.

“I’ll Never Love Again”

Play this: When you want to ugly cry so hard

I don’t know about you but every time I hear this song, it takes every ounce of my being to stop the tears from flowing—even as I write this. If you’ve seen the movie, you know why this song makes me so emotional. But, the lyrics itself are enough to make you cry too. I never thought I’d find myself / Lying in your arms / And I want to pretend that it’s not true / Oh baby, that you’re gone / ‘Cause my world keeps turning, and turning, and turning / And I’m not moving on. Oh, gosh, someone hand me some tissue.

“Heal Me”

Play this: When you’re waiting for the coffee to kick in

If you need coffee to function in the morning, this song just might work hand-in-hand with your drinking experience. Before you feel the caffeine in your veins, sing this tune. Just don’t keep me waiting / Or I’ll just be wasted / In a crowd of the lonely / I need you to inspire me / When I can’t inspire myself / I need you to provide for me / When I feel like someone else.
