Good news, ladies and members of the LGBT community, we’re one step closer to progress. On Twitter, it was announced that the Safe Streets and Public Spaces Bill was passed in Congress on its final reading. This means it’s close to becoming a law.
To refresh everyone’s memory, Safe Spaces will penalize catcalling, wolf-whistling, cursing, leering, and groping. Other acts that will be penalized are, “persistent requests for name and contact details, as well as the use of words tending to ridicule on the basis of actual or perceived sex, gender expression, or sexual orientation and identity in public spaces.”
Here’s hoping it becomes a law soon.
