Police are investigating the death of a Sinulog attendee

On Sunday, Jan., 20 a 19-year-old passed after collapsing at a pre-Sinulog concert in Cebu. Cebu Daily News reports that the police are now investigating the death of Ashley Abad. The report also mentioned rumors going around that Ashley “allegedly died after ingesting a drink laced with ecstasy.” However, this has yet to be confirmed. Chief superintendent Debold Sinas said that as part of the investigation, they will be speaking to the organizer of the event, Plus63 Music and Arts Festival.

Cebu Daily News also spoke to Ashley’s close friends to give everyone a glimpse of the kind of person she was. She was described as “bubbly and bright.” According to her friends, she had her whole life planned out and dreams of opening her own restaurant. “She was a human planner,” one of her friends said. “She was always organized but more than that, she was very thoughtful. Like, she wanted to make sure how we were doing every day.”

We would like to extend our condolences to Ashley’s friends and family during this time.
