Director Bryan Singer in the spotlight for alleged sexual abuse

Director Bryan Singer has been in the spotlight before for all the wrong reasons. A few months ago, he posted a statement on Instagram clearing the air about alleged sexual abuse claims against him.

However, reports have been circulating once again that he allegedly sexually abused teenage boys. According to Vox, “One man says Singer molested him when he was 13. Others described parties attended by older Hollywood executives and teenage boys, where Singer convinced them to have sex with him when they were between the ages of 15 and 18.” Bryan also responded to these allegations saying, “It’s sad that The Atlantic would stoop to this low standard of journalistic integrity. Again, I am forced to reiterate that this story rehashes claims from bogus lawsuits filed by a disreputable cast of individuals willing to lie for money or attention.” I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of hearing people switch the blame to victims. Saying that these people are coming forward with their stories for money is just wrong and insensitive.

This also brings up the issue of whether or not people working with him knew about this. Actor Rami Malek is one who has spoken up about it. According to Inquirer.net, he spoke to the Los Angeles Times and said, “As far as I knew, I was considered before Bryan was even attached. So I had my head down preparing for this for about a year ahead of time, and I never looked up. I didn’t know much about Bryan.”

With the rise of this issue, what does this mean for the success of Bohemian Rhapsody? I honestly wouldn’t mind if it gets snubbed at this year’s Oscars.
